Jon Flanagan relishing Liverpool return

Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan admits that he "can't wait" to get back to full fitness after missing the start of the season.

Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan has admitted that he "can't wait" to get back to full fitness this season.

The full-back has yet to feature for the Reds this term after picking up a knee injury during their summer tour of the USA.

However, with a return to training on the horizon, the 21-year-old is looking forward to fighting for a place in the team.

"I don't think it will be too long now and I think I should be back after the international break if all goes well," he told the club's official website.

"It has been frustrating for me but I can't dwell on it. It was tough to pick up the injury in pre-season but I've just got to forget about that now and push on.

"It's going to be tough but I'm more determined than ever. It's a massive season for me and I just can't wait to get back now."

Liverpool are back in action after the international break when they host Aston Villa in the Premier League.
