Roberto Firmino 'honoured' to play under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool

Roberto Firmino praises his relationship with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, describing it as "excellent".

Roberto Firmino has praised the relationship that he has with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Brazilian is regularly complimented by his boss in the media, with the German coach frequently describing the attacker as the "engine" in his team.

Firmino provides a strong threat up front - having scored 40 goals since joining the club from Hoffenheim in 2015 - but he also tracks back and produces some crucial tackles.

The 26-year-old believes that living in Germany for four years helped him develop a strong bond with Klopp.

In an interview with the club's official website, Firmino said: "When I was 18 and I was in Brazil, the offer came up to go to Germany and I didn't think twice. It was a big adaptation, a new country, food, culture, but I didn't go about it with any airs and graces and therefore I adapted.

"For me, it's certainly helped and the German mentality that I have from my time there, that's been very important [for my relationship with Klopp]. I've learned a huge amount with the manager, it's a real honour to be with him.

"We have a good relationship, it's excellent, but he's a partner not just to me. He's got a good relationship with all of the players, all of us."

Firmino has scored 17 goals in 31 matches for the Reds this season.
