Dalglish: Carroll was going nowhere

Kenny Dalglish has said that Andy Carroll was never going to leave Liverpool during this transfer window.

Reports had linked the former Newcastle United striker to a sensational swap deal for Manchester City's Carlos Tevez.

"I said before the game that we weren't close to doing anything," Dalglish said after Liverpool's 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last night. "People must think we lie, which I find insulting.

"Andy scored a great goal but there's no 'i' in team. Everyone made a contribution.

"It was a highly professional, high-quality performance."

Carroll signed for Liverpool from Newcastle United for £35m this time last year.
