Nathaniel Clyne confident of success at Liverpool

Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne believes that he can have immediate success at the club following his £12.5m move from Southampton.

Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne has declared that he is confident he can "step up" to make an impact at the club.

The 24-year-old secured a £12.5m move to the Reds, following in the footsteps of Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert to leave Southampton for Anfield over the past year.

Clyne is optimistic that he can have immediate success with Brendan Rodgers's men, despite the underwhelming performances of the former Saints trio in their first season at the club.

"I'm confident in my ability and the player I am and that I can make the next step up," Clyne is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "I wouldn't have moved if I didn't think I was ready.

"I spoke to a few of them before coming and they told me about how good the club is and it would be exciting if I joined them. So yeah, I'm looking forward to it."

Clyne made his first start for the Reds in their 4-0 win over Thailand All-Stars.
