Liverpool striker Christian Benteke "frustrated" by Southampton stalemate

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke admits that he feels "frustrated" after his goal was cancelled out in Sunday's 1-1 draw against Southampton.

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke has claimed that the team deserved to win against Southampton on Sunday and is "frustrated" to have dropped points.

The Belgium international, who recently recovered from a hamstring injury, was 13 minutes away from giving manager Jurgen Klopp his first win when he scored a header in the game at Anfield.

However, nine minutes later, Sadio Mane struck to level the match and made sure that the points were shared on Merseyside.

"We are frustrated today because, with what we showed, we deserved the three points," Benteke told the club's official website. "[One goal] is never enough, you have to play until the whistle. We just let them get one chance and they scored.

"We showed some good things and now we just need to kill the game when we can. We are not far but I think it's time to take more points."

Klopp has overseen three draws in all competitions since taking charge earlier this month.
