Peter Beardsley: Liverpool sacked Kenny Dalglish too quickly

Peter Beardsley believes that Liverpool may have acted rashly in sacking Kenny Dalglish.

Former Liverpool forward Peter Beardsley believes that the Anfield owners made a mistake in sacking Kenny Dalglish.

The Merseyside club dismissed the Liverpool legend last week following a dismal Premier League season, and are believed to have offered the job to Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez.

While Beardsley believes that the Scotsman should have been given more time, he is confident that Reds supporters will be drawn to Martinez's style of play.

"Liverpool panicked by getting rid of Dalglish," Beardsley told talkSPORT. "I think they should have given him another year and seen where it goes.

"Roberto has done well at Swansea and Wigan, he's come through the system and his type of football will appeal to the Liverpool fans."

Liverpool finished eighth in the league table.
