John Aldridge: 'Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge can be Liverpool legends'

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge says that Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez can become legends at the club.

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has claimed that the strike partnership of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge should be rated as one of the club's best ever.

The pair have plundered 47 goals between them in the Premier League this term, with Suarez sitting top of the division's scoring charts with 28 strikes.

Sturridge is second on 19, and Aldridge has given the duo huge praise for their efforts this campaign.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge have to be ranked right up there with the best strike partnerships in Liverpool's illustrious history.

"We've had some fantastic pairings over the years. Hunt and St John, Keegan and Toshack, Dalglish and Rush, Beardsley and myself, Fowler and Collymore – there has been a long line of great double acts going back decades.

"It's still early days for Suarez and Sturridge but I honestly believe they already deserve to be mentioned alongside those names and they may already be the best. Their record speaks for itself. It's there in black and white."

The Reds host Sunderland on Wednesday.
