Preview: Liverpool vs. Swansea City

Sports Mole previews the fourth-round League Cup tie between Liverpool and Swansea City.

One of three all-Premier League ties in the last 16 of the Capital One Cup takes place at Anfield tomorrow as Liverpool host Swansea City.

Liverpool will hope that the competition can offer some respite from their indifferent form as they look to reach the quarter-finals.

Brendan Rodgers will undoubtedly ring the changes from Saturday's goalless draw with Hull City, with Rickie Lambert set to lead the line ahead of Mario Balotelli.

Young midfielder Jordan Rossiter could also start after scoring in the third-round win over Middlesbrough - a match which was decided by highest-scoring penalty shootout in League Cup history (Liverpool won 14-13).

For the visitors, Garry Monk may decide to rest main striker Wilfried Bony after his two goals were the difference against Leicester City on Saturday evening.

The Welsh side's star player this term, Gylfi Sigurdsson, is also likely to miss out after hobbling out of the 2-0 victory over the Foxes.

Swansea have reached the last 16 without conceding a goal in their victories over Rotherham United and Liverpool's Merseyside rivals Everton.

The last three matches in all competitions between these sides have had 16 goals and the last time they met in the League Cup was when Swansea stunned Liverpool 3-1 at Anfield at the same stage before going on to lift the trophy in 2012-13.
