Mamadou Sakho confirms he will return to Liverpool training on Saturday

Mamadou Sakho confirms that he will return to full training on Saturday as he continues to recover from a hip injury.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has revealed that he will return to training this weekend after stepping up his return from a hip injury.

The Frenchman will play no part in tonight's last-32 second leg against Besiktas in the Europa League as he did not travel with the squad to Istanbul.

However, the defender has confirmed that he will resume full training on Saturday, one day before Liverpool take on Premier League champions Manchester City at Anfield.

Sakho wrote on Twitter: "Good news as following the tests I had at the beginning of the week and after the medical staff 's opinion.. i can go back to training with the group on Saturday! Minewhile, I wish good luck to the whole team for tonight !"

With regards to tonight's contest, Liverpool have a 1-0 advantage following Mario Balotelli's penalty in the first leg at Anfield.
