Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. MK Dons

Liverpool injury, suspension list vs. MK Dons

Liverpool travel to MK Dons on Wednesday night to begin their quest for a first EFL Cup triumph since 2012.

Jurgen Klopp's side were knocked out of the competition by Chelsea at the third-round stage last season, with the Blues winning 2-1 at Anfield.

The Champions League winners head into this game full of confidence having won all six of their Premier League games so far this season.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for the Reds.

Alisson Becker

Status: Out Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: October 20 (vs. Manchester United)

The Brazilian goalkeeper picked up a calf injury during Liverpool's opening game of the season and was quickly ruled out for around two months. Klopp confirmed last week that Alisson had returned to light training but would not be available for another month.

Naby Keita

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Hip Possible return date: September 25 (vs. MK Dons)

Keita has been sidelined for around a month with a hip problem and returned to training for the first time last week, giving the midfielder an outside chance of featuring against the League One side.

Divock Origi

Status: Out Type of injury: Ankle Possible return date: September 28 (vs. Sheffield United)

The Belgian striker picked up an ankle injury against Newcastle United earlier this month, with Klopp confirming soon after that he would miss around two weeks of action, meaning that this clash with MK Dons comes too soon.

Nathaniel Clyne

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Clyne picked up a severe knee injury during pre-season and is not expected to make a return to action until the early months of 2020.

Sadio Mane

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: September 25 (vs. MK Dons)

Klopp noted soon after Liverpool's 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge that he had been forced to take off Mane due to the Senegalese suffering a knock to the knee and a dead leg. While the severity of the affliction is anybody's guess, the manager is unlikely to use him on Wednesday.
