Liverpool have held off a strong performance from Chelsea to register a 2-1 win in Sunday's Premier League fixture at Stamford Bridge.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino gave Liverpool a two-goal advantage at the break, with Chelsea having a Ceaar Azpilicueta strike chalked off through VAR.

N'Golo Kante deservedly halved the deficit for his team after the break, although it only proved to be a consolation as Liverpool recorded their sixth successive victory in the league.

Find out how all of the action unfolded in West London courtesy of Sports Mole's minute-by-minute updates below.

Hello and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage of the match in the Premier League between Chelsea and Liverpool. When these two teams met in the UEFA Super final last month, it took penalties to separate them, but can one of these two English giants register a win after 90 minutes this afternoon?

As the players make their way out onto the pitch, let's see who features in each starting lineup...

CHELSEA XI: Arrizabalaga; Azpilicueta, Christensen, Tomori, Palmieri; Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic; Willian, Mount, Abraham

CHELSEA SUBSTITUTES: Caballero, Zouma, Alonso, Barkley, Pedro, Pulisic, Batshuayi

LIVERPOOL XI: Adrian; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Wijnaldum, Fabinho, Henderson; Salah, Firmino, Mane

LIVERPOOL SUBSTITUTES: Kelleher, Gomez, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Shaqiri, Brewster

KICKOFF:  Liverpool get us underway in West London!

Both teams have had plenty of touches during the opening stages. Abraham missed an opportunity to play Mount through on goal, however, as he instead moved the ball back into midfield.

Liverpool's first attack sees a long pass across the pitch intended for Mane. The winger looks set to be in on goal, only for Azpilicueta to slide in to make a crucial intervention.

The visitors are beginning to get on top. While some of their passes are going astray, they are pinging the ball about with confidence, which is keeping Chelsea on the back foot.

Better from the Blues as Mount, Abraham and Kante link up in the middle third of the pitch. However, the eventual through ball from the latter is too hard for Willian, who is eased out by Van Dijk.

We are still awaiting the first shot of any note, but it has already developed into a competitive game. Mount has just got down the left before crissing for Abraham and Willian, but Liverpool just about survive courtesy of a Robertson clearance.

After Fabinho bursts through the middle and gets the ball to Mane, the winger draws a foul out of Christensen on the edge of the area. Chance here for Liverpool.

GOAL!  CHELSEA 0-1 LIVERPOOL (TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD)

GOAL!  Liverpool take the lead, and in some style, too. Twenty yards out from goal, Salah dragged the ball into the path of Alexander-Arnold, who rifled a shot into the top corner. Arrizabalaga had no chance.

SUBSTITUTION! Chelsea have been forced into an early change. Palmieri, who was making his return from a thigh problem this afternoon, has been replaced by Alonso.

To the home side's credit, they have reacted well to going behind. There is still plenty of ambition going forward, even if it is sometimes leaving them light at the back.

YELLOW CARD!  Tomori deservedly goes into the book for a late challenge on Henderson close to the halfway line.

Liverpool are back dominating possession again, and Chelsea aren't making a sustained effort to claim it back.

CHANCE!  Big opportunity for Chelsea. Abraham beats the offside trap and the academy graduate has plenty of time to set himself ahead of getting a shot away. However, Adrian stays big to make the block.

DISALLOWED GOAL!  Chelsea think that they equalised through Azpilicueta, who bundles the ball home after good play from Willian down the left. However, Mount was marginally offside during the build-up. It's not as close as with Som Heung-min yesterday, but it is a tough one to take for Chelsea.

GOAL!  CHELSEA 0-2 LIVERPOOL (ROBERTO FIRMINO)

GOAL!  Chelsea are going to feel really hard done by here. Liverpool double their lead from another set piece, with a cross from the left being headed into the top corner by Firmino. The marking is abysmal.

The home side have more than matched the Premier League leaders from open play, but they have been undone in and around their own box. There's a lot to ponder for Lampard.

The main objective for Chelsea will be reaching half time without further damage. That said, Liverpool have taken confidence from doubling their advantage and they can sense blood here.

The home side get the ball into the box, but it is an easy claim for Adrian. However, the goalkeeper has clattered into Abraham, who is now nursing a shoulder injury.

Abraham is back on his feet for Chelsea as both teams continue to contest the ball in the middle third.

Very nearly a third for the visitors. Salah is at his menacing best as he runs directly towards the penalty area, and it takes a block to prevent the ball from finding the far corner.

The Blues now have an injury concern over Christensen, who has picked up a knock while making that block. However, it came from Tomori sliding in behind him. I'd be surprised if the Dane can carry on.

SUBSTITUTION! Yep, another change for Chelsea. Zouma comes on for Christensen.

You can see the frustration within the Chelsea ranks. Pretty much everything has gone against them this half. Liverpool have been ruthless and professional in equal measure, and are well on their way to registering a sixth successive win.

CHANCE!  Another chance for Abraham. This time, it came from a precise Azpilicueta cross, which the forward could only direct wide of the left-hand post. He has to be hitting the target from there.

There will be three minutes of added-on time.

HALF TIME:  Chelsea 0-2 Liverpool

The half-time whistle goes at Stamford Bridge and Liverpool lead thanks to goals from Alexander-Arnold and Firmino. It perhaps hasn't been a 2-0 kind of game, but Liverpool have made the most of their openings. Chelsea haven't.

RESULT! Both sets of supporters will probably be interested to see West Ham United register a 2-0 win over Manchester United earlier this afternoon. Click here to read our on-the-whistle match report from the game at the London Stadium.

A quick reminder of the two benches...

CHELSEA SUBSTITUTES: Caballero, Barkley, Pedro, Pulisic, Batshuayi

LIVERPOOL SUBSTITUTES: Kelleher, Gomez, Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Shaqiri, Brewster

KICKOFF:  Chelsea get us back underway.

CHANCE!  It should be 3-0. Alexander-Arnold's outswinging cross from the right finds Firmino all on his own at the back post, but the Brazilian's volley is superbly kept out by Arrizabalaga.

It has been all Liverpool at the start of this second half. Chelsea are very much in survival mode.

Arrizabalaga has pulled off a miraculous stop to prevent Azpilicueta from putting through his own net, although the flag was wrongly put up for Alexander-Arnold being offside.

Chelsea have improved over the last couple of minutes. A corner came to nothing, but it has at least put the leaders on the back foot.

More positive play from the Blues who were able to switch the play from right to left. However, a pass to Willian was over-hit when the home side attempted to go back in the opposite direction.

YELLOW CARD!  Alexander-Arnold goes into the book for time-wasting. Liverpool had been warned about a minute earlier.

SHOT!  Back come Chelsea who are starting to build a head of steam. Moments after Abraham just misses out with a flick at the near post, Kante dragged a low effort from 20 yards wide of the post.

The home side are still showing plenty of promise in the final third. Nevertheless, they don't particularly look like creating a clear-cut opportunity which will trouble their opponents.

Lampard must be starting to consider when to make his final switch. He will naturally be wary of going too early given that he only has one up his sleeve.

The game has started to go a little flat, which obviously plays into Liverpool's favour. They are doing enough here to ease to a sixth successive victory.

PENALTY APPEAL!  Chelsea are appealing for a penalty when Alexander-Arnold's boot is high in order to make an interception. They have a case because it may have been given elsewhere on the pitch, but the referee paid no notice on this occasion.

Zouma gives the ball away with an under-hit pass, but the defender redeems himself with a last-ditch challenge to prevent Salah from getting a shot on goal.

GOAL!  CHELSEA 1-2 LIVERPOOL (N'GOLO KANTE)

GOAL!  What a finish this is! Kante is given the time and space to move inside the area, but the Frenchman somehow manages to arrow a shot into Adrian's top left-hand corner. Adrian had absolutely no chance.

SUBSTITUTION! Liverpool make their first change as Milner comes on for Mane.

Chelsea have their tails up here. Liverpool are looking increasingly nervy on the ball at a time when Chelsea are cranking up the intensity. Lampard's final substitute is imminent.

SUBSTITUTION! Batshuayi is the player to be introduced, with Abraham making way.

YELLOW CARD!  Fabinho goes into the book for a cynical foul on Batshuayi as Chelsea looked to launch a counter-attack.

Liverpool are having to commit more and more tactical fouls in order to break up Chelsea's rhythm. It's a sign that they are worried about this surge from the Blues.

Whatever happens in this match, Lampard will take so many positives from how his young side have competed with the league leaders. They have matched them blow for blow in open play.

SUBSTITUTION! Liverpool make a second switch as Lallana replaces Henderson.

YELLOW CARD!  Kovacic and Milner have both been booked for separate incidents in the space of a minute. Just four more to go, plus added-on time.

CHANCE!  Was this the chance for Chelsea? A cross from the left finds Batshuayi all on his own by the penalty spot, but the forward can only glance a header wide of the far post.

CHANCE!  No. This was THE chance. Alonso finds the run of Mount inside the area, but the playmaker can only send a first-time effort over the crossbar from 12 yards.

There will be four minutes of added-on time.

SUBSTITUTION! Liverpool's final switch sees Salah replaced by Gomez.

YELLOW CARD!  Alonso needs to commit a cynical foul on Robertson to halt the left-back's run down the middle. That will be that.

FULL TIME:  Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool

The full-time whistle goes at Stamford Bridge and Liverpool have held on to earn a hard-fought three points. Chelsea gave it everything, and arguably matched Liverpool during open play, but two goals from set pieces have proved to be the difference.

That will be all from Sports Mole for this match. Thank you for joining us this afternoon and we hope to see you again soon.
