Liverpool vs. Wolves: Head-to-head record and past meetings ahead of FA Cup fifth-round meeting

Wolverhampton Wanderers will welcome Liverpool to Molineux for the second time in four days when the two match up in the FA Cup fifth-round on Friday night.

The cup clash comes just days after the Old Gold recorded a remarkable 2-1 Premier League triumph over the Reds, courtesy of a 94th-minute winner from Andre.

A fixture that dates back to the 19th century – beginning with an 1894 Division One encounter that Wolverhampton Wanderers won 3–1 – Liverpool and the Old Gold have now crossed paths 121 times in competitive football, with the Reds holding a clear advantage in the overall head-to-head.

Liverpool have claimed 65 victories across those meetings, while Wolves have recorded a respectable 38 wins of their own, with a further 18 contests ending all square.

In the modern era, the Merseyside giants have largely had the upper hand, having won five of their last six clashes with Wolves and 13 of the last 16 across all competitions, including two 2–1 Premier League successes during the 2024–25 campaign.

However, the most recent clash between the two clubs saw the Old Gold run out 2-1 winners at Molineux in March 2026, when former reported Liverpool target Andre scored a deflected goal in second-half stoppage time to render Mohamed Salah's equaliser meaningless.

Despite taking all three points in a reversal of December 2025's 2-1 loss at Anfield, Rob Edwards's side remained stranded at the bottom of the Premier League table, though their first victory against the Reds since a 3-0 triumph in February 2023 gave the strugglers their first back-to-back wins in the top flight since April 2024.

That being said, Liverpool have still won 17 of the last 19 Premier League meetings between the sides, including a double during Jurgen Klopp’s final campaign in 2023–24. That season, the Merseysiders came from behind to win 3-1 at Molineux, before the German closed the curtain on his reign with a 2–0 victory at Anfield on the final weekend of the season.

Wolves were also eliminated from the FA Cup by Liverpool earlier that campaign, although they have enjoyed cup success against the Reds before, notably knocking them out of the 2016–17 and 2018–19 editions of the competition, including a memorable 2–1 win at Anfield in the former.

Liverpool legend Roger Hunt remains the highest recorded scorer in this fixture with nine goals, while Mohamed Salah sits second on the list with eight.
