Jurgen Klopp: 'We were the better team against West Ham United'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits that his side's exit from the FA Cup following an extra-time defeat to West Ham is "hard" to take.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has blamed his side's profligacy in front of goal for their exit from the FA Cup at the hands of West Ham United.

The Reds created a host of chances during their fourth-round replay at Upton Park this evening, but saw themselves stung late on as Angelo Ogbonna's header in stoppage time of extra time sent Klopp's side crashing out.

Klopp questioned referee Roger East's decision to award the free kick that led to the goal, and admitted that it was a hard defeat to take having been "the better team".

"It's hard. We were the better team, created chances and played good football, but we didn't use them," he told BT Sport.

"There were lots of decisions that on a better day I'd say were funny decisions. I don't think it was a free kick [the decision that led to the winning goal] but I'd have to see it again.

"It's not easy because we were only here to win. You don't have to show your best, you just have to go to the next round. The door was wide open for us because we did well but it was not enough. We have to carry on and fight to the next game."

Philippe Coutinho had earlier cancelled out a Michail Antonio opener to force extra time.
