Preview: Liverpool vs. Young Boys

Liverpool vs. Young Boys

Liverpool have left their Europa League qualification chances open after losing to Anzhi Makhachkala a fortnight ago and face a vital clash against Young Boys this Thursday.

The Merseyside outfit welcome the Swiss club to Anfield this week with both teams on six points in Group A, which indicates that the winner of the tie is more likely to qualify for the next round of the European competition.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has been known to field a rather inexperienced side throughout the tournament and while Liverpool will be eager to snatch all three points, the Northern Irishman could once again opt for a young side.

Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard could be included in the squad but are likely to be placed on the bench for the encounter, while centre-back Jamie Carragher is expected to captain the side at Anfield.

Meanwhile, Young Boys are likely to start Raul Bobadilla up front after the striker scored in his side's surprise 3-2 win over Udinese.

Recent form:

Liverpool: LDLDW

Young Boys: LWLWD

Possible lineups:

Liverpool: Reina; Wisdom, Carragher, Coates, Flanagan; Henderson, Allen, Shelvey, Suso; Pacheco

Young Boys: Wolfli; Nef, Zverotic, Veskovac, Sutter; Farnerud, Schneuwly, Raimondi, Nuzzolo; Bobadilla, Zarate

Sports Mole says: 2-1
