Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp talks up his side's professional performance to ease past Porto over two legs, setting up their first quarter-final since 2009.

Jurgen Klopp has praised his Liverpool players for getting the job done with a no-frills goalless draw against Porto, as they made it through to the quarter-final stage of the Champions League.

The Reds headed into Tuesday night's second leg boasting a commanding 5-0 lead from the reverse fixture, all but killing off the tie before the match at Anfield.

Liverpool failed to muster a single shot on target in the first half for just the second time this season, although the margin of the two-legged victory was still their biggest in European competition since 2009.

Despite failing to find a way past Porto on Merseyside, Klopp was more than happy with his side's professional display.

"We did the job and that was it tonight," he told BT Sport. "It wasn't the most exciting game but we controlled it, had a few chances, got a clean sheet and gave some boys some minutes. I am pretty sure it is rare to have a game like this in the knockout stages.

"We needed to be serious and we were so all good. Of course, we want to win two games at this stage. When you watch the game you always think 'oh come on, a little bit more here or there' but they did well and it is all good. The attitude was outstanding."

Liverpool have now kept five clean sheets in their past six games in the Champions League, only conceding to Sevilla in that time.
