Lille vs. Nantes (Sunday, 12.00pm)

Seeking their first wins of the 2023-24 Ligue 1 campaign at the second attempt, Lille square off with Nantes at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Sunday lunchtime.

Les Dogues left it late to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw away to Nice on matchday one, while Les Canaris failed to hang on to a slender advantage in a 2-1 loss to Toulouse.

We say: Lille 2-0 Nantes

Without their number one goalkeeper, Nantes' hopes of ending a dismal stretch of away form - as well as their lengthy winless run against Lille - are surely slim to none this weekend.

Fonseca's men turned the Stade Pierre-Mauroy into a fortress last season, and they should find a way to break down the defensive Nantes setup en route to all three points.

Lorient vs. Nice (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Fresh from holding Paris Saint-Germain to a goalless draw at the Parc des Princes, Lorient welcome Nice to the Stade du Moustoir on Sunday.

Les Merlus picked up an unexpected point on the opening weekend of the Ligue 1 season, while Les Aiglons drew 1-1 with Lille in their first match.

We say: Lorient 2-2 Nice

Given that Lorient and Nice finished just three points apart in last season's Ligue 1 standings, we expect the two sides to share the spoils in an eventful encounter at the Stade du Moustoir.

Reims vs. Clermont (Sunday, 2.00pm)

Reims and Clermont will both aim to bounce back from defeat on the opening weekend of the Ligue 1 season when they clash at the Stade Auguste-Delaune on Sunday.

The hosts suffered a 2-1 loss against Marseille last time out, while the visitors endured a 4-2 thrashing at the hands of Monaco.

We say: Reims 2-1 Clermont

Given that Reims enjoyed plenty of success at the Stade Auguste-Delaune last term - losing just five of their 19 home league games - we expect Will Still's side to claim all three points on Sunday.

Newly-promoted Le Havre welcome Brest to the Stade Oceane on Sunday afternoon as both sides aim to build on positive starts to the new Ligue 1 season.

While Le Havre came from behind to draw with Montpellier HSC on the opening weekend, Brest clinched a dramatic 3-2 victory over Lens, dispatching last season's runners-up.

Buoyed by last weekend's draw against Montpellier, Le Havre look set to give Brest a run for their money at the Stade Oceane, although the hosts may have to settle for another draw as the Pirates look to build on an impressive comeback victory over Lens.

Monaco vs. Strasbourg (Sunday, 6.00pm)

Two teams who kicked off their 2023-24 Ligue 1 campaigns on the right foot butt heads at the Stade Louis II on Sunday, as Monaco welcome Strasbourg to the Principality.

Les Monegasques came up trumps in a six-goal thriller with Clermont on the opening day - posting a 4-2 success - while Patrick Vieira's side edged past Lyon 2-1.

We say: Monaco 3-1 Strasbourg

Overcoming Lyon is no mean feat, but a Strasbourg side who are yet to significantly upgrade their squad during the summer window are destined to fall short in the Principality.

Monaco's new-look backline could still offer their visitors a few opportunities to make the net bulge, but Hutter's attacking firepower will surely be too hot for Strasbourg to handle.

Lens will be looking to bounce back from defeat on the opening weekend of the Ligue 1 season when Rennes visit the Stade Bollaert-Delelis on Sunday evening.

The hosts threw away a 2-0 lead at Brest last time out, while the visitors kicked off their campaign with a 5-1 thrashing of newly-promoted Metz.

While Lens struggled without Openda and Fofana as they threw away a 2-0 lead last time out, Rennes hit the ground running with a dominant 5-1 victory on the opening weekend.

With that in mind, we expect the Red and Blacks to carry their momentum into Sunday's showdown, inflicting back-to-back defeats on the Blood and Gold.
