Nigel Pearson: 'Matthew Upson making progress'

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson reveals that Matthew Upson is stepping up his recovery from an ankle injury.

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has revealed that Matthew Upson is "making progress" in his recovery from ankle surgery.

The former England international joined the Foxes as a free agent in the summer, but the injury has prevented him from making an appearance for the club.

However, Pearson has revealed that the centre-back has now started to take part in training sessions outside.

"Matty Upson is going outside so he's making progress. He's been out a couple of times so it's promising for him and for us as well because it's still early days in the season," Pearson told the club's official website.

Upson, 35, is expected to return to action next month.
