Leeds United second-half comeback ensures three points

Giuseppe Bellusci scores an 83rd-minute free kick and Mirco Antenucci strikes late on to complete a turnaround as Leeds United win 3-1 away at Bournemouth.

Leeds United launched a second-half comeback to come from a goal down to beat Bournemouth 3-1 in the Championship this evening.

The home side began on the front foot and Marco Silvestri was called into action in the third minute to push away Ryan Fraser's goalbound effort.

Three minutes later, Bournemouth took an early lead through Andrew Surman, who was making his first start for the club since arriving for his second spell on the South Coast. The midfielder sent a precise, curling shot into the corner of the net, much to the acclaim of the home support.

Matt Ritchie was then denied twice in quick succession. First, his low shot was blocked at the near post before a dipping strike from long range was acrobatically tipped over the bar by Silvestri.

Fraser then curled a shot over the bar as Bournemouth continued their positive start, but in the final 15 minutes of the half Leeds did threaten, and Tomasso Bianchi came close with a curling effort.

The second half began tentatively, but with little more than 20 minutes remaining, Souleymane Doukara's strike from a narrow angle got the visitors back on level terms.

A minute later, Billy Sharp almost completed a quick turnaround but his shot flew just wide of the post.

A minute after picking up a booking, Italian centre-back Giuseppe Bellusci earned Leeds all three points with a 25-yard free kick that flew into the back of the net.

Silvestri made two good saves late on to keep Leeds ahead before Mirco Antenucci wrapped up the victory with a late goal on the counter-attack which leaves Bournemouth without a win in their last five games.
