Watford claimed all three points away to Leeds United thanks to two goals from Chris Iwelumo.
Watford started the game well and struck the first goal after just five minutes. Chris Iwelumo finished well after Troy Deeney fed the ball into his strike partner's path.
Leeds looked to respond immediately and Robert Snodgrass had a shot blocked wide before Alex Bruce headed the resultant corner over the bar.
The game continued in a scrappy fashion, with neither side really getting a hold on the game.
Snodgrass had another effort just before half time, forcing Tomasz Kusczak into making a good save.
Leeds came out for the second half on the front foot and looked to press Watford for the equaliser.
However, after an hour, Leeds couldn't break down the away side, with the visitors still looking dangerous on the counter attack.
Ramon Nunez replaced Clayton in the middle of the park and his first touch was to send a shot just wide of the upright from outside of the box.
With Leeds fighting for chances, Snodgrass had a penalty claimed turned away after he drilled a shot straight at the defender.
Watford could have wrapped the game up on 82 minutes when Deeney capitalised on a defensive slip to find himself one-one-one with Lonergan, however the Leeds keeper made the save before Bruce cleared the follow-up off the line.
Watford did wrap it up with two minutes left. Lonergan made a good save to deny Deeney, before the ball fell to Iwelumo, who drilled home the visitors second of the game.
Connolly was given a red card in injury time to leave Leeds with ten men.
Watford saw out the game to claim a 2-0 win at Elland Road.
