Leeds United to reach football league milestone against Aston Villa

Leeds to reach football league milestone against Aston Villa

Leeds United will reach a football league milestone when they travel to the West Midlands to face Aston Villa on Wednesday night.

Marcelo Bielsa's men currently sit 15th in the Premier League table, seven points clear of the relegation zone and four points behind Villa in 11th place.

Leeds, who were founded 103 years ago, have been competing in the football league since they joined back in 1920, and at Villa Park they will take to the field for their 4,000th league match.

The Whites, however, should be wary of what happened to the previous four teams who reached this landmark, as they all suffered defeat.

Tottenham Hotspur (losing 2-1 against Leicester City in November 2017), Watford (losing 1-0 to Huddersfield Town in April 2018), Bournemouth (losing 2-0 at home to Brighton & Hove Albion in December 2019) and Crystal Palace (losing 3-2 against Chelsea in July 2020), were all unable to claim any points from their 4,000th game.

Leeds, however, have won their last two games at Villa Park, scoring three goals in each, so they will be confident of claiming another victory on the road on Wednesday.
