Hockaday pleased with Leeds progress

Leeds United head coach Dave Hockaday has said that his side are on the right track ahead of the new Championship season.

The Whites wrapped up their pre-season preparations with a 2-0 victory over Dundee United at Elland Road on Saturday.

Hockaday believes that Leeds have made good progress since his appointment in June.

"We are getting better. Day one, it was a horror show and day two, not so much. We're at a stage where now when we are training, if a team has not got the ball, they have got to work damned hard to get the ball back," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"We have come a long way, but have a long way to go and are by no means the finished article. We have a lot of work to do, but that is what we are here for. This is a team game. Every game, we play as a team and work as a team.

"We are going to get better with our decision-making and passing. But if we go out and put in an honest shift every game, we will be hard to play against."

Leeds begin their Championship campaign with a trip to Millwall on August 9.
