Lazio bounce back by beating Catania

Lazio get their season back on track with a 3-1 success over Catania, who are still searching for their first win of the campaign.

Lazio have restored confidence at the Olimpico tonight with a 3-1 win against Catania, with coach Vladimir Petkovic rewarded for ringing the changes.

Petkovic left Miroslav Klose and Hernanes out of his starting XI following last week's defeat in the Rome derby, but his side responded quickly to break the deadlock after four minutes.

Ederson was the man who scored, tapping home from close range after Antonio Candreva's free kick had been parried back into the danger zone.

The Aquile's lead was shortlived though, with Catania levelling two minutes later through Pablo Barrientos, who chipped the goalkeeper after latching on to Lorik Cana's short pass.

Sergio Floccari's acrobatic effort then almost produced the third goal is as many minutes, but his effort was tipped over the crossbar.

Lazio kept up the pressure and went ahead just before the break, with Senad Lulic hammering in off the post from 20 yards.

Catania's chances of responding were then dealt a severe blow early in the second half, as Giuseppe Bellusci saw red for a cynical late lunge on Ogenyi Onazi.

It took Lazio until stoppage time to rubber-stamp three precious points, with substitute Hernanes doing the honours as he found the corner from a tight angle.
