Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon signs contract extension until 2018

Buffon extends contract at Juventus

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has extended his stay with the Italian giants by signing a new deal until 2018.

The club legend turned 38 in January, but a fresh deal indicates that the shot-stopper is still a pivotal member of the team.

Buffon joined Juve in 2001 and has gone on to make close to 600 appearances for the Turin-based outfit, winning seven Serie A titles, five Supercoppa Italianas and one Coppa Italia in the process.

"I'm immensely proud in the faith Juventus have placed in me once more," Buffon told reporters. "I hope that my fantastic story with this club will go on and bring even further success."

Buffon has also had success at international level having made 152 appearances for Italy and winning the World Cup in 2006.

Meanwhile, Juventus have also tied down the signature of defender Andrea Barzagli, whose new deal also extends to 2018.
