Juventus back to winning ways

Juve back to winning ways

Juventus have ended a difficult week by securing their seventh win from nine in Serie A this season, running out comfortable 2-0 winners over struggling Genoa.

Antonio Conte returned to a three-man backline after experimenting with 4-3-3 in midweek, with Leonardo Bonucci restored to a familiar defence.

The Old Lady started strongly in their preferred system but their opening goal came in contentious fashion, after they got the benefit of a penalty decision midway through the first half.

Genoa felt that Kwadwo Asamoah went down under a trip from Davide Biondini following contact just outside the penalty area, but the referee disagreed and pointed to the spot.

Arturo Vidal stepped up to break the deadlock, smashing home his penalty in assured fashion.

Andrea Pirlo then forced Mattia Perin into a smart stop from range, but home pressure eventually told as Juve doubled their advantage before the interval.

Carlos Tevez was the man to get their second, dribbling past his marker before aiming a clever snapshot beyond Perin and inside the far corner.

Asamoah proved to be a consistent outlet for the Bianconeri when play resumed, while Sebastian Giovinco replaced Fernando Llorente in search of further goals.

Much of the second half was played at a slower tempo but Genoa were unable to mount a response, with Conte's side maintaining their advantage comfortably to close out a routine home victory.
