Cristiano Ronaldo suggests that he only made the decision to leave Real Madrid for Juventus because it gave him the opportunity to join another "big club".

Cristiano Ronaldo has suggested that he would not have been tempted into leaving Real Madrid for a move to Asia.

Ronaldo completed a move from the European champions to Juventus earlier this month, and there is every indication that the 33-year-old plans to retire at the Italian giants.

In recent months, a number of players have made high-profile moves to China, Japan or Qatar, but Ronaldo has hinted that he only wanted to represent a "big club".

At a press conference, the Portuguese star told reporters: "I'm not sad about leaving Real Madrid, this is a big club and with all due respect players at this stage of my career usually go to Qatar or China, so I'm grateful to Juventus for allowing me to join such a big club."

Juventus and Real Madrid will meet in a pre-season friendly before the start of the new campaign, but Ronaldo has suggested that he will not feature in that game.
