Promotion hopefuls Huddersfield Town will welcome Doncaster Rovers to Accu Stadium on Tuesday in their fourth fixture of the 2025-26 League One season.
The Terriers were narrowly beaten 3-2 by Blackpool on Saturday and are seventh with six points, whereas their opponents are fifth with seven points following their 1-1 stalemate with Wycombe Wanderers on August 16.
Match preview
Huddersfield were involved in a frantic first half against Blackpool, with the team trailing 3-2 by the 31st minute, but boss Lee Grant will be disappointed to have lost considering the victors were reduced to 10 men in the 36th minute.
The hosts have been productive in the final third, scoring 10 goals in their four games in all competitions this term, more than they had managed in their final nine matches of 2024-25 (six).
At the other end of the pitch, Grant's side have conceded five times in their past two fixtures, but they have faced the joint fifth least xG (2.3) of the 24 teams in the third tier this season.
The Terriers had won the three games prior to their defeat against Blackpool, though one of those triumphs was a penalty shootout victory against Leicester City in the EFL Cup on August 13.
Huddersfield have prevailed in their two home outings in 2025-26, a stark contrast to how they ended last season at Accu Stadium given they lost their final three matches at the ground in 2024-25.
Doncaster Rovers scored the only big chance they created against Wycombe in the 56th minute, and they will be frustrated to not have taken three points considering they only faced 0.37 xG.
The visitors have kept two clean sheets and only conceded two goals in their four matches of 2025-26, keeping their opponents at bay as many times as they had in their final six fixtures of 2024-25.
Rovers' record against Huddersfield is positive considering they are undefeated in their last nine meetings with their hosts, emerging as victors five times.
Manager Grant McCann has overseen three wins from his four games in charge this campaign, and his players also won their last four outings of the previous season.
Doncaster Rovers have triumphed in their four most recent competitive away outings, including in their two away matches of 2025-26, and they scored at least two goals in each of those clashes.

Team News
No Huddersfield player has scored more than one league goal, and striker Alfie May will want to net his first non-penalty strike in League One this term.
Attacking midfielder Ben Wiles is likely to be supported by a double pivot featuring Ryan Ledson and Herbie Kane.
In the backline, Jack Whatmough and Joe Low may be stationed between full-backs Lynden Gooch and Sean Roughan.
If Doncaster Rovers use the same 4-2-3-1 formation that they utilised against Wycombe, expect wingers Luke Molyneux and Jordan Gibson to start either side of centre-forward Billy Sharp.
Centre-backs Connor O'Riordan and Jay McGrath will hope to retain their places in defence, while midfielders George Broadbent and Charlie Crew are certain to come under consideration.
Huddersfield Town possible starting lineup:
Goodman; Gooch, Whatmough, Low, Roughan; Ledson, Kane; Harness, Wiles, Roosken; May
Doncaster Rovers possible starting lineup:
Lo-Tutala; Bailey, O'Riordan, McGrath, Senior; Broadbent, Crew; Molyneux, Gotts, Gibson; Sharp
We say: Huddersfield Town 1-2 Doncaster Rovers
Doncaster Rovers have been strong on the road, and they will be confident of scoring more than once away from home.
Huddersfield's defensive performances in their past two games was poor, and if they struggle at the back on Tuesday, they will find it difficult to avoid defeat.
