Houston Dynamo shock New York Red Bulls to reach Eastern Conference final

An Omar Cummings goal in extra time sees Houston Dynamo overcome New York Red Bulls 4-3 on aggregate to seal a spot in the MLS Eastern Conference final.

Houston Dynamo have beaten New York Red Bulls 2-1 after extra time to confirm a 4-3 aggregate victory, which sees them qualify for the MLS Eastern Conference final.

The two teams shared four goals at Robertson Stadium on Sunday, but it is the Texans who advance despite falling behind early on at the Red Bull Arena.

It was Bradley Wright-Phillips who broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute, capitalising on a goalkeeping catastrophe from Tally Hall.

However, a slack ball across the back from Ibrahim Sekagya allowed Brad Davis to advanced unchecked on goal and slot past Luis Robles and level the scores.

That is the way it stayed until the 103rd minute, when Omar Cummings got just enough on the ball to turn it over the line, despite vehement protests to the contrary from the Red Bulls.

Replays justified the lineman's decision to give the goal, and the Supporters' Shield winners were unable to muster a reply as they bowed out of the playoffs in front of their own fans.
