Terry Butcher not thinking about new signings

New Hibernian manager Terry Butcher tells his players to prove themselves instead of forcing him into the January transfer market.

New Hibernian boss Terry Butcher has urged his players to prove themselves instead of forcing him into the January transfer market.

The 54-year-old arrived at the club last week after leaving Scottish Premiership rivals Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Butcher now wants the squad to show him what they can do before he feels the need to bring in any new faces in the New Year.

"January is a long way off," he told Sky Sports News. "I am not looking at that. I am delighted with what I have got here, I must stress that, I am not looking elsewhere at the moment.

"From what I have seen so far there are good players here who haven't played to their potential but now is the chance to do that."

Butcher takes charge of Hibs for the first time on Saturday when they travel to St Mirren in the league.
