Hibernian ease past Livingston to climb to fourth in Scottish Championship

Hibs up to fourth

Hibernian lifted themselves up to fourth in the Scottish Championship by comfortably beating lowly Livingston 4-0 at the Almondvale Stadium this evening.

The visitors went in front just after the half-hour mark when Dominique Malonga rifled home from close range after Livingston keeper Darren Jamieson had spilled David Gray's cross.

Hibs almost had a second before half time, but Scott Allan struck the post from inside the area.

Five minutes after the break, Livingston were almost level when a Kyle Jacobs effort was hacked off the line by Gray.

Soon after, Hibs doubled their lead when Daniel Handling collected a pass from Jason Cummings and stroked into the net.

It was three in the 71st minute when Dylan McGeouch scored from the penalty spot following a mistimed challenge on Cummings by Craig Sives.

The icing was put on the cake in the final 10 minutes when Paul Heffernan, just two minutes after coming on as a substitute, slid in to score.

Alan Stubbs's side rise to fourth on goal difference with their second away win of the season, while Livingston are down to ninth because of Cowdenbeath's win at Alloa Athletic, which saw them climb off the bottom and up to eighth.
