Hibernian boss Neil Lennon hit with five-match ban by UEFA

Lennon hit with five-match ban by UEFA

UEFA has issued a five-match suspension to Hibernian manager Neil Lennon following his conduct during a Europa League qualifying match against Brondby.

The 45-year-old was already suspended for the return leg after being sent to the stands for complaining against a disallowed goal for Jason Cummings during the game in Denmark last month.

Lennon later revealed that he wanted to appeal the one-match ban, describing it as "nonsense", but he now faces a lengthier spell away from the touchline.

Today, UEFA announced that a five-match suspension was appropriate due to Lennon's "acts of violence against the referee" during the match.

Hibernian suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first leg, and despite winning the second 1-0 in normal time, the Scottish club were knocked out on penalties.
