Tony Pulis: 'Gateshead were a credit to their league'

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis heaps praise on Gateshead after his side defeated the Conference Premier minnows 7-0 in the third round of the FA Cup.

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has praised Gateshead for their early performance against his side in the third round of the FA Cup, despite the Baggies eventually running out 7-0 winners at The Hawthorns.

The Conference Premier side were in with a shout after an impressive opening showing in the game, but were ultimately outclassed as Saido Berahino went on to grab four goals for the home side.

"Gateshead played really well in the first 20-25 minutes and were a credit to their league. Their supporters and manager should be very proud of how they played," said Pulis, according to BBC Sport.

Pulis already appears to be building a good relationship with reported Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur target Berahino, with the £20m-rated striker citing the manager's quick influence on the team following the victory.
