Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang keen to emulate Samuel Eto'o, Didier Drogba

Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says that he wants to emulate Samuel Eto'o and Didier Drogba to become Africa's next superstar.

Gabon forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed that he harbours aspirations to follow Samuel Eto'o and Didier Drogba in becoming Africa's next top marksman.

Aubameyang netted the opening goal as Gabon got their Africa Cup of Nations campaign off to a winning start by beating Burkina Faso 2-0 in Bata last night.

The Borussia Dortmund striker is arguably his country's biggest name, and the 25-year-old admits that the weight of expectancy will rest on his shoulders throughout the competition.

"I try to do the maximum to become one of the greats like Drogba and Eto'o," he told FIFA.com.

"I don't feel any pressure to be like them, but there is maybe a level of expectation around me and I saw during the warm-up that our fans were applauding me in particular.

"That is nice and it gives you the motivation and the desire to do well. When people expect great things from you, you try to do great things."

Jorge Costa's Gabon face Congo in their next Group A outing on Wednesday night.
