Roma 'planning Clint Dempsey swoop'

Serie A giants Roma are reportedly lining up a bid for Fulham's Clint Dempsey.

The Italian club are willing to spend £7m on the free-scoring American winger, The Sun understands.

Fulham Martin Jol is keen to keep the USA international at Craven Cottage, but interest from top European clubs may influence his decision to sign a new contract.

The 29-year-old has already caught the attention of Arsenal, who could table a bid this summer.

Dempsey, who has hit 16 goals this season, is out of contact at Fulham in June 2013.
