Raul Jimenez looking to match Javier Hernandez feat in Fulham's clash with Forest

Potential milestone: Jimenez out to match Hernandez feat in Forest clash

Fulham forward Raul Jimenez will attempt to follow in Javier Hernandez's footsteps in Saturday's Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest.

Jimenez had to settle for a bench role for Fulham's first three games of the season as Marco Silva opted to use Rodrigo Muniz as his starting striker against Manchester United, Leicester City and Ipswich Town.

However, with Muniz unable to trouble the scorers, Jimenez was brought into the starting lineup for the home clash with West Ham United earlier this month.

The 33-year-old went on to find the net in a 1-1 draw against the Hammers, before he grabbed another goal in the recent 3-1 victory over Newcastle United.

Having scored in Fulham's last two league games, Jimenez is expected to retain his spot for Saturday's trip to the City Ground.

Jimenez out to replicate Hernandez feat

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers striker is hoping to become the second Mexican player to reach 50 goals in the English top flight.

Jimenez is just one goal away from reaching that milestone, having scored 49 goals in 164 Premier League appearances.

The experienced forward has scored nine top-flight goals for Fulham after he registered 40 Premier League strikes during his time with Wolves.

As it stands, Hernandez is the only Mexican who has previously broken the 50-goal barrier in the English top flight.

Hernandez scored a total of 53 Premier League goals, registering 37 for Man United and a further 16 during his two-year stint with West Ham.

Fulham targeting points landmark

While Jimenez has the chance to reach a personal milestone, he also has the opportunity to help Fulham reach a points landmark for their first six league matches.

Having taken eight points from their opening five matches, a win against Forest will see Fulham equal their highest points tally for the first six games of a Premier League season.

The Cottagers may fancy their chances of equalling that record after winning eight of their previous 11 league games against Forest.

Fulham have also won three of their last four away matches against Forest, although they did lose 3-1 on their most recent trip to the City Ground in April.
