Flamengo manager Jorge Jesus tests positive

Flamengo manager Jorge Jesus has tested positive for coronavirus.

The 65-year-old took charge of the Brazilian side last summer and has since led Flamengo to the final of the FIFA Club World Cup, where they were defeated 1-0 by Liverpool.

According to AS, Jesus and vice president Mauricio Gomes de Mattos both tested positive for the virus, but the former will undergo a second test due to inconclusive results.

The report also states that Flamengo's players are in quarantine following Gomes de Mattos's diagnosis, while the remainder of their staff are self-isolating as a precautionary measure.

It was announced earlier on Monday that Spanish coach Francisco Garcia died after contracting the virus, but the 21-year-old was found to be suffering from leukaemia upon arrival at hospital.

The 2020 Brazilian Serie A season is due to start on May 3.
