Utrecht hold Feyenoord to goalless draw

FC Utrecht have held Feyenoord to a goalless draw in this afternoon's Eredivisie clash at the Stadion Galgenwaard.

The game saw few chances in the opening stages, with little more happening than a yellow card on 15 minutes for Sofyan Amrabat, who was adjudged to have raised his leg too high going into a challenge.

On the half-hour mark, Feyenoord goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer had to be alert to thwart an Edouard Duplan drive, while a Utrecht free kick flew narrowly wide on the stroke of half time.

Following the restart, the hosts continued to threaten as a cross from the right fell to Christiaan Kum, who blasted over from close range.

However, arguably the best chance of the game fell to Karim El Ahmadi, who forced a smart save from Utrecht goalkeeper Robin Ruiter in the 77th minute.

Nevertheless, neither side could break the deadlock as the final whistle blew on a goalless draw, which means that Feyenoord lose ground on the Eredivisie top three, while Utrecht sit 12th in the table.
