Twente breezed past the challenge of Cukaricki in a resounding 4-1 victory in the first leg of their Europa Conference qualifying tie on Thursday.

After going behind to Luka Adzic's opener, Ron Jans's men hit back through goals from Robin Propper, Michel Vlap and a second-half double from Christos Tzolis.

Prior to that, the Tukkers kicked off their league campaign by seeing off the threat of NEC Nijmegen on Sunday thanks to a late winner from Sem Steijn.

Coming up next is the challenge of an opposing outfit who came out on top in both of last season's league meetings between the teams.

Fortuna Sittard had little to show for a highly-spirited display against defending champions Ajax as they fell to a 3-2 defeat in Saturday's encounter at the Fortuna Sittard Stadion.

Sjors Ultee's men took the lead early on through Paul Gladon before goals from Kenneth Taylor, Devyne Rensch and Brian Brobbey turned the game on its head, after which Burak Yilmaz pulled one back late on.

The Fortunezen, who are 13th in the league standings, have now failed to win any of their last five involvements and are in need of a pick-me-up.

However, Sunday's visitors are unbeaten in their last four games on the road ahead of this weekend's trip to Enschede where they will be looking to secure another positive result away from home.

On-loan Ivor Pandur was fit enough to be named on the Fortuna Sittard bench last time out, but Yanick Van Osch is expected to retain his place between the sticks.

Mats Seuntjens was on target against this weekend's opponents last season, and the 30-year-old will be looking to deliver the goods once again.

Off the back of his superb cameo off the bench in midweek, Christos Tzolis could be rewarded with a place in the starting lineup for this one.

Dutch midfielder Wout Brama continues to nurse a groin injury and is set to sit out a seventh consecutive game on the bounce.
