Everton transfer news: Mark Travers transfer fee, contract length, revealed as David Moyes completes third summer signing

Travers contract length, transfer fee revealed as Everton confirm third summer signing

Everton have announced the signing of goalkeeper Mark Travers from fellow Premier League side Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year contract until the end of June 2029 and joins the Toffees for an undisclosed fee, believed to be £4m plus add-ons.

Travers becomes David Moyes’s third signing of the summer transfer window after midfielder Carlos Alcaraz and striker Thierno Barry, who moved to Everton last week for around £27m.

The Republic of Ireland international - born in Maynooth, Leinster - was targeted by the Toffees following the departure of backup goalkeepers Asmir Begovic and Joao Virginia upon the expiration of their contracts last month.

Travers leaves Bournemouth after spending nine years on the books at the Vitality Stadium, making a total of 82 first-team appearances for the Cherries, while also experiencing loan spells at Weymouth, Swindon Town, Stoke City and Middlesbrough, where he made 20 appearances in the second half of last season.

Travers “extremely proud” to sign for Everton

Speaking to evertontv following confirmation of his move to the Toffees, Travers said: "I'm extremely proud and excited to be an Everton player.

“Coming in, you can feel how big this club is and the history that comes with it. You really feel that with the fanbase, the new stadium now as well and the direction the club is going in.

"It's a fresh start for me to come up here and try a new chapter in my career. It's a really exciting time to be part of this massive football club and I just can't wait to get going."

Sharing his thoughts on providing competition for first-choice shot-stopper Jordan Pickford, Travers added: "Jordan is an outstanding goalkeeper for club and country. I'm looking forward to competing with everyone here and being a Premier League player.

Travers relishing Pickford battle between the sticks

"Being in this environment is huge. We're going to push each other every day in training and whatever happens on the weekend, we're going to be there for each other and make the most of every opportunity that comes.

"It's always really exciting to work with a new group and being able to help the younger lads as well. I'll give it everything. I'll take pride in doing the right things on and off the pitch and representing this club with a lot of pride."

Reacting to the arrival of Travers, Moyes said: “We welcome Mark to Everton. With Asmir and Joao leaving the club over the summer, we were looking for a goalkeeper with a level of experience to support Jordan.

“We are continuing to work on bringing in more players ahead of the start of the season.”

Travers will link up with his new Everton teammates for pre-season training and it remains to be seen whether he will be involved in tonight’s friendly clash away against Accrington Stanley.
