Everton are looking to sign free agent Andre Ayew, who is flying to the United Kingdom in the next 24 hours to take part in formal talks.

Everton are reportedly interested in signing free agent Andre Ayew who has flown to England ahead of a potential move.

The Toffees appointed Sean Dyche as manager on Monday, with the former Burnley boss tasked with guiding the Merseyside outfit to safety.

Everton have endured a poor season, and they currently sit in 19th place in the Premier League table with two points separating them from safety.

After selling Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United for a reported £40m fee, Everton were hoping to strengthen their squad before the January transfer window closed on Tuesday.

Although Chelsea were willing to accept Everton's £45m bid for Conor Gallagher, the midfielder was keen to remain at Stamford Bridge.

AC Milan forward Olivier Giroud reportedly rejected the chance to join the Merseyside club, while they failed in their attempts to recruit Michy Batshuayi and Ismaila Sarr from Fenerbahce and Watford respectively.

As it proved, Everton were unable to add to their squad in January, and they have now turned their attention to the free-agent market.

According to the Daily Mail, Everton are looking to sign former West Ham United and Swansea forward Andre Ayew.

The 33-year-old has held preliminary talks with the Toffees over a potential move, and he is expected to arrive in England within the next 24 hours for formal discussions.

However, there is still some way to go before a deal can be completed, with the report claiming that the chances of Ayew joining Everton are rated '50-50'.

The versatile forward can play out wide or through the middle, and his arrival would help an Everton side who are the second-lowest scorers in the Premier League with 15 goals from 20 games.

Ayew is keen to return to European football after he recently left Qatari side Al-Sadd, who agreed to pay the remainder of his contract.

The Ghana international scored 22 goals and provided three assists in 39 appearances for Al-Sadd.

Across spells with Swansea and West Ham, Ayew registered 21 goals and 12 assists in 89 Premier League matches.
