Everton confirm they have agreed a deal with Major League Soccer for the transfer of Tim Cahill to New York Red Bulls.

Everton have confirmed that they have agreed a deal for the transfer of Tim Cahill to New York Red Bulls.

The 32-year-old will move to Major League Soccer for a reported fee of around £1m if he passes a medical and agrees personal terms.

Cahill had been linked with a move away from Goodison Park all summer, with many overseas clubs in Asia and the Middle East rumoured to be interested in signing the attacking midfielder.

However, the Australian, who joined the Toffees from Millwall in 2004, now seems ready to ply his trade in the MLS.

He will join other top-level players like former Barcelona players Thierry Henry and Rafael Marquez in New York, with the club currently top of the Eastern Conference.
