Everton score twice in as many minutes to down Sunderland

Quickfire Everton come back against Sunderland

Everton scored two goals in as many second-half minutes as Everton came from behind to defeat Sunderland at Goodison Park this afternoon.

The visitors had the first opportunity when Steven Fletcher played in Stephane Sessegnon, who was unable to find the net with just Tim Howard to beat.

Kevin Mirallas was the hosts' main threat but the pacey Belgian had to come off midway through the half because of injury.

Steven Pienaar forced Simon Mignolet into action for the first time midway through the half before Nikica Jelavic had the chance to open the scoring, but he scuffed a Leighton Baines free kick wide.

Sunderland nicked a goal just before the interval through Adam Johnson. The England winger was found by Craig Gardner and half-volleyed past Howard.

Everton came out strong after the interval but were unable to find the equaliser until the 76th minute, when Fellaini muscled himself a yard of space on the edge of the area and found the corner of Mignolet's goal.

The turnaround was complete moments later when Leon Osman found Fellaini who nutmegged John O'Shea to find Jelavic, and the Croatian striker made no mistake with the finish.
