David Weir: 'Everton's Ross Barkley can become a match winner'

Weir: 'Barkley can be a match winner'

Former Everton player and coach David Weir believes that midfielder Ross Barkley has the potential to be a driving force in the Toffees team.

The 19-year-old, who has impressed manager Roberto Martinez this season, could feature in the first Merseyside derby of the campaign at Goodison Park tomorrow.

"Potentially he's a match winner," Weir told talkSPORT. "He's very talented and he has got great attributes that the majority of players will never have.

"He's got all the tools to be a fantastic talent but it's still very early days for him. Ross is a sensible boy who loves his football and that will stand him in good stead."

Barkley has been rewarded with three England caps following some positive displays this season.
