Neville Southall calls for Everton ambition

Everton should be aiming to reach the top of the Premier League, according to former Toffees goalkeeper Neville Southall.

Former Everton goalkeeper Neville Southall has claimed that the Toffees should be aiming to win the Premier League.

The Merseyside outfit reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup this season, but they are currently languishing down in 11th place in the table with three games left.

Southall, who represented Everton on more than 500 occasions, has said that his former team "should be proud enough" to aim for the summit, rather than being content with a top-10 finish.

"We need be winning the league," he told Radio City Talk. "We should be proud enough to say we're going to win the league.

"When you walk into Man United their target is to win the league and they don't mind saying it's to win the league. What is ours? David Moyes told us that top 10 was great. This is a pile of rubbish.

"I'd like to see a proper philosophy and a proper message come out of the club. It comes from the top. I have no idea what their plans are, I have no idea what their ambition is and I have no idea what their aspirations are."

Everton will host Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
