Silva: 'Richarlison offers something different'

Everton manager Marco Silva is pleased to have added Richarlison to his squad, claiming that the Brazilian forward can give the Toffees "different options".

Marco Silva has attempted to justify spending a reported £50m on Richarlison by insisting that the forward offers Everton something different.

The Toffees surprised many earlier this week with the amount paid to Watford for the 21-year-old, who faded badly in the second half of his debut campaign in English football.

Everton boss Silva worked with Richarlison last season, though, and claims that the uncapped Brazilian can help to bring the best out of others at Goodison Park.

"He's settled in over these first two days," he told the club's official website. "I know him very well. He's one more player to improve our squad and to create competition is important for me.

"He's a different winger to what we have, he can give us different options. We need to support him but he'll have a good impact on our squad."

Richarlison featured in the second half of Everton's 3-0 loss to Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Thursday night.
