Nine-year-old boy beats trio to win Everton's goal of the month competition

Nine-year-old wins Everton's goal comp

A nine-year-old Everton supporter has beaten Ross Barkley, Kevin Mirallas and Aaron Lennon to win the club's goal of the month competition for January.

George Shaw, who suffers with cerebral palsy, was welcomed onto the Goodison Park pitch during the half-time break of the Toffees' 2-1 defeat to Swansea City in January.

According to the Liverpool Echo, after learning that his strike was awarded Goal of the Month, George said: "I thought I'd come close because of all the support I've had but I can't believe I won! Thank you to everyone who voted."

The youngster was invited to score a goal by Gerard Deulofeu after the Spaniard saw a video online of George performing some tricks while wearing a 'Deulofeu 19' shirt.
