Nikica Jelavic admits to being surprised by the positive start that he has made to his Everton career.

Nikica Jelavic has admitted that he has been surprised by the start that he has made to his Everton career.

The Croatian striker found the net 11 times after he joined the Toffees from Rangers during the January transfer window.

Reflecting on his contribution during the second half of the season, Jelavic has admitted that he scored double the number of goals that he was expecting to.

"Everything has been perfect for me so far," Jelavic told the club's official website. "Am I surprised at how well it has gone? A little bit. I expected maybe five or six goals and I said to myself that that would be great.

"But this is a huge, huge step and I'm delighted with 11 goals.

"English football, the Premier League, is the best football in the world. So I am happy I have settled so quickly."

Everton are believed to have paid £6.5m for Jelavic's services.
