Andy Gray: 'Manchester United had nothing up front'

Gray: 'Man United had nothing up front'

Former Everton striker Andy Gray has said that Manchester United had nothing in the final third as they suffered a heavy defeat to his old side.

The Toffees beat United 3-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday, which was a second Premier League defeat in succession for Louis van Gaal's side.

Gray believes that, while Everton deserve praise for their defensive performance, United need to freshen up their attack if they are to win more games.

"Manchester United had nothing in the top third where I thought someone is going to do something. It was all too predictable for me from United," he told talkSPORT.

"I thought Ander Herrera was a little disappointing, he's the one in the last few weeks that's been driving from midfield. They don't have any pace, Daley Blind hasn't really got it, Juan Mata is not quick and Ashley Young is ok, but he's not blistering. Young also comes inside and does the same thing time and time again.

"Everton were really comfortable. Man United don't have the individuals in that team that, against a packed defence, can go and beat two players in a tight area."

United are fourth in the table following the defeat.
