Everton's Seamus Coleman: 'James McCarthy unfortunate to be sent off'

Seamus Coleman says that James McCarthy was "unfortunate" to be sent off in Everton's goalless draw with Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

Everton full-back Seamus Coleman has claimed that James McCarthy was "unfortunate" to be sent off in his side's Premier League game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The midfielder was given his marching orders in the 52nd minute of Wednesday night's goalless draw following a second bookable offence.

The result means that Everton have gone five league games without a win.

"We came down wanting all three points so we could finish strong with a semi-final to look forward to," the club's official Twitter page quotes Coleman as saying. "James was unfortunate to be sent off and then we had to battle it out. Joel [Robles] was very good in goal."

Everton are currently 16th in the Premier League table.
