Leighton Baines hoping for Everton reinvigoration in Qatar

Leighton Baines believes that Everton's warm-weather break in Qatar can help reignite Everton's spirit.

Everton left-back Leighton Baines has said that the club's upcoming warm-weather break in Qatar can help lift their spirit following a poor run of form.

The Toffees are now eight games without a win following last night's goalless draw at home to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League.

Everton had a golden opportunity to score in the first half when they won a penalty, but Baines, the usual spot-kick man, was denied the chance to take it as Kevin Mirallas grabbed the ball and dragged wide from 12 yards.

A point leaves Everton 12th in the table, just six points off the bottom.

Speaking about their trip away, Baines said: "It is like a mini pre-season in a way. We have been spending a lot of time together anyway but to go away is a nice change of scenery.

"Hopefully it gets a bit more spirit among the lads and keeps everyone together because when you are not winning games and there is a lot of criticism it is easy to look after yourself.

"We have to stay together and look after each other and hopefully this trip will be beneficial in all those ways."

Everton are out of the FA Cup so don't have a game until next Saturday at Crystal Palace as the fourth round takes place this weekend.
