Everton's Victor Anichebe hopes he can remain injury-free this season

Anichebe targets injury-free season

Everton striker Victor Anichebe has admitted that he is primarily targeting an injury-free season for the club.

Anichebe has been plagued with injury throughout his football career, but the 24-year-old is hopeful that he can build on his form towards the end of last season.

Anichebe told Press Association Sport: "My aim is to stay fit. Last season I came back and I scored five goals in not so many appearances so towards the end of last season I did pretty well.

"Hopefully this year I can stay injury free and I never know where that will take me.

"I'm sure I've put all that stuff behind me now. I've been unfortunate in the past but that's nothing I can dwell on."

The Nigerian forward has scored a total of 12 goals in 104 appearances for Everton.
